NTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT (IPM) PROGRAM

Integrated Pest Management involves a decision-making process that uses a combination of techniques to suppress pests. The BC Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks promotes this approach to eliminate all but the most necessary applications of pest control products.

All use of pesticides at Seymour golf & Country Club is done within a written IPM
Program – our program is based, first and foremost, on growing healthy plants in a well-designed landscape. We understand the concern with pesticide use and environmental safety, and utilize this program to restrict chemical controls to only those areas and times when other alternatives have proven ineffective.

Plant Health BC, administered by the Institute for Sustainable Horticulture (affiliated with Kwantlen Polytechnic University) reviewed Seymour’s IPM program recently and gave it full accreditation. Two current members of our staff have successfully passed the Plant Health BC IPM Coordinator exam, and a number of staff members are provincially certified in pesticide application, which includes detailed IPM training.

A commitment to long-term solutions to pest problems at Seymour has been in place for many years, resulting in better protection of the environment and of human health, and reduced costs for our guests and members.
